Description
Monte La Reina Barrel-Fermented Verdejo is a white wine made from 100% Verdejo that represents an ambitious and unconventional expression of the variety in the Toro appellation. Inspired by internationally renowned age-worthy white wines, it has been crafted to evolve and gain complexity over time in the bottle.
After fermentation, the wine spends between 5 and 7 months in specially selected French oak barrels for white wines, a precise process that adds structure, volume and depth without masking its varietal identity. The result is a serious, well-balanced white wine with remarkable ageing potential.
Visually, it displays golden yellow colour, bright, clean and luminous, hinting at its richness and concentration.
On the nose, it reveals a expressive and intense, with notes of ripe fruit and white flowers, complemented by elegant toasted nuances, nuts and delicate hints of well-integrated oak.
On the palate, it offers vibrant acidity and remarkable harmony, combining citrus, floral and oak notes. Exotic fruit flavours emerge alongside an elegant hint of bitter almond that adds length and character. Its structure and balance give it considerable ageing potential, allowing it to evolve towards greater complexity over time.
When it comes to food pairing, Monte La Reina Barrel-Fermented Verdejo pairs perfectly with seafood, rice dishes, oily fish, aves, creamy cuisine and more substantial dishes. It is an ideal wine for those seeking food-friendly white wines with ageing potential.
This Verdejo demonstrates that, when crafted with precision and vision, the variety can produce outstanding age-worthy white wines, positioning Monte La Reina as a winery capable of exploring new dimensions within the Toro appellation.
